Hydromulching Frequently Asked Questions
From tailored grass seed recommendations to the duration of watering requirements and post-application maintenance, we will provide you with key information that will contribute to the success of your project.
Can you ensure we don’t get overspray?
Our equipment and skilled operators are designed to minimise overspray and ensure precise seed placement. We take measures to contain the hydromulch process within the designated area, minimising any impact on surrounding areas.
Do you provide necessary equipment for hydromulching and drill seeding?
Yes, we are equipped with a 4WD 15-tonne MAN Hydromulch truck with a 3000-litre Tank, a 110hp 4WD Case Tractor, Belco Conservation Drill Seeder, Ford Ranger Utility 4WD and a Nissan UD 20.5 Beavertail Truck to assist us with all our projects.
How often do I need to water hydromulch?
Adequate moisture is crucial for successful seed germination and early growth. Daily watering is recommended for the first 21 days to support the germinating seedlings and promote a healthy lawn.
How long does hydromulch take to see results?
Once we have sprayed the mixture, with the correct watering and maintenance, you should see results in 7-14 days, this is also subject to soil and weather. Normally the cover crop will appear within 7 days and some seeds such as green couch within 14 days. Species such as zoysia can take up to 4 weeks and some native seeds can take a year or more.
Is soil testing necessary?
Soil testing is highly recommended as it provides valuable insights into nutrient levels, pH and overall soil health. This information helps determine the specific needs of your soil and allows for more precise recommendations on fertiliser, lime, or other amendments, optimising the success of the seeding process.
What grass seed should I use?
The choice of grass seed depends on factors such as your geographical location, climate, specific project requirements and your preference. We can provide tailored recommendations based on the characteristics of your site. Normally we use a cover crop to help nurse the infant seeds and helps stablisation. This generally dies off within 6 months or sooner once the other grass is established.
What size area is your minimum/maximum?
Our hydromulching solutions are adaptable to various project sizes, we complete commercial or residential work from a minimum of 400m2.
What topsoil and preparation do you need?
Proper preparation involves having good-quality topsoil. This ensures an optimal environment for root development and successful germination. Our Belco Conservation Drill Seeder fluffs the ground up as it places seeds in the ground leaving you with neat land that requires no clean-up.
How do you source and store your products?
We buy our products and seeds as required. Our products are fresh, procured from reputable and premium suppliers and require us to order per project so they are not stored for long periods of time where they can become stale or unviable.
Do you use herbicides or chemicals?
We are environmentally friendly and don’t use chemicals or herbicides. We only source and use quality/premium products, materials, seed and equipment.
What areas do you service?
We are proud to service the Sunshine Coast, Gympie, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Caboolture, Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, Bundaberg and surrounding areas.
Do you offer a guarantee?
We endeavour to provide you with premium customer service and on-going support. We do not offer a guarantee for your hydromulch and drill seeding results however with the correct maintenance you’ll be seeing green in no time!
How often do you clean your equipment?
We take pride in our equipment to ensure there is no cross contamination between projects. We clean our equipment between every job and deep clean all equipment every weekend.
Can we use the area immediately?
We recommend staying off the area as much as possible until the grass is established to avoid compaction and damage to seedlings – this includes things like vehicles, children, dogs etc.
What if we get a severe weather event?
Whilst all care is taken to ensure the weather is optimum to suit your project we cannot predict what might occur. Severe weather may adversely affect your project however this is subject to your individual circumstances.
My property is hard to access, how will you access my property?
We have a 4WD truck that can access most areas plus a 60m hose enabling us to access up to 70m from the hydromulch truck.
