Customise your lawn with Hydromulch Solutions
Hydromulching is a highly advantageous method for establishing domestic lawns, providing a swift and uniform solution to lawn growth. Your new lawn will be sprayed on using a protective mulch covering which is green in appearance.
What to expect for your lawn with Hydromulch
Hydromulching stands out as a versatile and convenient option for homeowners seeking an economical/cost-effective and sustainable approach to lawn establishment, especially for medium to larger blocks.
This process accelerates seed germination and grass establishment, creating an optimal environment for rapid and even growth compared to traditional methods. The spraying mechanism ensures consistent coverage across the entire lawn area, reducing bare spots and resulting in a visually appealing landscape.
We use a cover crop to help nurse the infant grass seeds and assist with stabilisation. This generally dies off within six months or sooner once the grass is established. Additionally, the exclusion of weed seeds in hydromulch mixtures minimises unwanted vegetation and the use of organic materials aligns with environmentally conscious lawn care practices.

Optimal lawn establishment with Hydromulch
A specially curated blend of hydromulch and seed will be meticulously chosen to align with the specific conditions and requirements of your area as well as your needs and preferences. The germination time of the seeds will be influenced by weather conditions and the consistency of your soil and watering following the hydromulching application. It is important to maintain regular watering during this crucial period to ensure the vitality of the young seeds.
Your hydromulch blend includes fertilisers to provide essential nutrients for successful germination. Applying a slow-release fertiliser monthly until your lawn is well-established is recommended. Afterward, you can scale back the fertiliser application to four times a year, aligning it with weed control efforts.
Once the hydromulching process is complete, managing your new lawn becomes straightforward. Regular watering, routine mowing and proper feeding are the primary maintenance requirements. The initial 21 days are particularly crucial as the germinating seedlings must be consistently hydrated to prevent any drying out.
Preparing for your hydromulch lawn
-
Soil Depth Importance
Ensure a minimum of 100mm of high-quality soil for optimal root structure and successful lawn establishment.
-
Professional Soil Analysis
Consider engaging a registered soil technician to analyse the soil, identifying any necessary treatments during the preparation stage of hydromulching.
-
Address Drainage Issues
Ensure proper drainage on your site to prevent water ponding, which can adversely affect the success of hydromulching.
-
Surface Scarification
Lightly scarify the soil surface to enhance hydroseeding results, promoting better seed-soil contact and germination.
-
Avoid Soil Compaction
Prevent solid soil compaction, as it impedes root penetration and may lead to grass deterioration. We recommend keeping vehicles, animals and children off the hydromulched area as much as possible until it is established.
