Protect your land with Hydromulch Solutions Grass Seeding
Our efficient one-step application process makes rejuvenating and protecting your land simple. Hydromulch Grass seeding, also known as hydroseeding or spray-on grass is the best way to spread hydraulic growth media, seed, fertilizer, wood fibre, green dye, cellulose fibre and tackifier over your land.
What is Hydromulching?
Hydromulching is used in landscaping and erosion control to encourage moisture retention, soil stabilisation and seed germination. Hydromulching or hydromulch grass seeding is commonly used for revegetation of disturbed land after constructions, stabilising slopes and controlling erosion on hillsides.
The application involves spraying a mixture of growth media, seed, fertilizer, wood fibre, green dye, cellulose fibre and tackifier over your land. At Hydromulch Solutions we are equipped with a 4WD 15-tonne MAN Hydromulch truck with a 3000-litre tank to tackle any project big or small (minimum 400m2).

What are the benefits of Hydromulching?
Hydromulching offers comprehensive solutions for landscaping and land restoration projects with its versatile and efficient methods it is an excellent alternative for the traditional process of broadcast (dry) seeding.
-
Holds soil firmly in place
The hydromulch mixture creates a protective layer over the soil, forming a barrier that helps to anchor the soil in place. This is particularly crucial on sloping terrain or areas prone to erosion, preventing the loss of topsoil.
-
Faster Germination
The combination of water, nutrients, beneficial microbes and the protective mulch layer promotes optimal conditions for seed germination. This leads to faster and more uniform germination compared to traditional seeding methods.
-
Hydromulch doesn’t contain weed seeds
Unlike traditional mulching materials such as hay or straw, the hydromulch mixture is carefully formulated to exclude weed seeds. This helps prevent the introduction of unwanted vegetation during the planting process.
-
Improved Moisture Retention
The mulch in the hydromulch mixture acts as a moisture-retaining agent. It helps to retain water in the soil, reducing evaporation and providing a more consistent water supply for newly germinated seeds and developing plants.
-
Better seed-to-soil contact
The spraying process ensures thorough coverage, pushing seeds into direct contact with the soil. This enhances seed germination rates and encourages stronger root development.
-
Grass Seeding Provides Better Results
The hydromulch mixture normally includes your chosen/recommended grass seeds, ensuring a well-distributed and even distribution across the planting area. This leads to a more uniform and aesthetically pleasing lawn or vegetation cover.
-
Nothing Left to Remove Once Process is Complete
Unlike traditional straw or netting used in some seeding methods, hydromulching leaves behind a seamless layer. There is no need for additional cleanup or removal after the vegetation has established itself.
-
Handles Awkward Areas Easily
The flexibility of the hydromulching process allows for efficient coverage of challenging terrain such as hillsides or narrow spots. These areas, which may present difficulties for other seeding methods, can be easily addressed with hydromulching equipment.
-
Simple One-Step Process
Hydromulching is a streamlined and straightforward process that combines multiple steps into one application. This simplicity can save time and effort compared to traditional seeding methods that may require separate steps for mulching, seeding and erosion control.
How does grass hydromulch seeding work?
Hydromulching, sometimes known as hydroseeding or spray-on grass, is a process that begins with the preparation of a slurry mixture. This mixture is loaded into a specialised tank on hydromulching equipment, where it is thoroughly mixed to achieve a consistent texture.
The resulting slurry is then sprayed evenly over the designated area of soil. The slurry forms a protective mulch layer, serving multiple purposes such as preventing soil erosion, retaining moisture and creating an ideal environment for seed germination. The direct contact between the seeds and soil, facilitated by the spraying process, promotes faster and more successful germination.
As the seeds sprout, the mulch layer continues to protect the young plants from environmental stressors. The hydromulching process contributes to soil stabilisation, dust and erosion control and the establishment of vegetation, making it an efficient and cost-effective method for landscaping and land restoration projects on various scales.
